Now, More Than Ever: An Invitation to Gather

Date: Tuesday, April 15th, 2025

Dear AIN Community,

We are moving forward with the 2025 AIN Conference in Florida—and we want to extend a wholehearted invitation for you to join us.

We know this is not an easy moment in the world. Headlines break our hearts daily. Global tensions rise. And for many, traveling—particularly to the United States—feels uncertain or even unsafe. We want to acknowledge all of this. We also want to remind ourselves and each other: this isn’t the only world available to us.

Yes, we are living in difficult times. But we also live in a world where communities like AIN exist—a world where creativity, connection, courage, and care are practiced daily. Our conference theme this year is “Unwind. Unlock. Uplift.” And we believe that gathering in person is one way we do exactly that.

Now, more than ever, we are called to navigate the gap between what is and what’s possible. We come together not to escape the pain of the world, but to face it—and to imagine new ways of being in it—together.

If the AIN community has ever been a source of grounding, learning, or light for you, we invite you to meet us in Florida this July. We know it won’t be possible for everyone. Each person must make the decision that is right for them. But we are committed to supporting international attendees and ensuring this gathering is as accessible, safe, and welcoming as possible.

To that end, here’s what we’re currently working on:

  • Creating an online Travel Resource Hub with up-to-date visa information and guidance
  • Offering personalized support for international registrants, including documentation to assist with customs and visas
  • Offering a pre-conference virtual session for international and all attendees to connect, ask questions, and prepare (happening April 24th at 12pm eastern - invite via email to follow - everyone is welcome!)
  • Creating a travel support team or point people (“buddies”) before and during the conference
  • Exploring recording options for keynotes

Applied improvisation teaches us to use everything, say yes to what is, and build together. This year, that means holding the tension of a complicated moment—and still choosing to gather. Not in denial. Not in defiance. But in solidarity.

We hope you’ll join us.

With care,

The AIN Board & the Florida Conference Planning Team

Passing the Torch: AIN's New Board and a Fond Farewell to Outgoing Leaders

Date: Tuesday, February 25th, 2025

Dear network,

In December 2024, AIN membership voted to approve a new board slate. Now, the Applied Improvisation Network is thrilled to introduce our newly elected AIN Board of Directors! These dedicated individuals have stepped up to lead our network, bringing with them a wealth of applied improvisation experience and perspectives.

As we welcome this new group, we also extend our deepest gratitude to outgoing AIN Board President Ed Reggi and Vice President Kat Koppett for their exceptional service and dedicated leadership over the past four years. Their incredible commitment and vision have been crucial in shaping AIN into the premier professional association for applied improvisation.
